Does Total Balance Healthcare treat children?

Absolutely, people of all ages can benefit from our healthcare services, including babies, children and young adults. Our team is specially trained to handle the needs of our younger patients, including providing a friendly and unintimidating environment.

How do I decide between seeing a physiotherapist or an osteopath?

It is generally a personal preference. Some people prefer osteo and others prefer physio and then some prefer a certain practitioner. Our practitioners all treat similar and communicate your condition to each other if you are being treated by more then one practitioner. This helps ensure continuity of your care.

Do you accept patients with TAC-related injuries or who are covered by Veteran Affairs?

Yes, we do. Please provide details of your WorkCover claim number as well as the details of your case. We will also require the name of the contact person you were given from the insurer.

Patients who are covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs must obtain a referral from their doctor made out to our clinic.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?

Please notify us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel your scheduled appointment. Should you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours of notice, you will incur a cancellation fee of $40.

What are the clinic’s operating hours?

The clinic is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 7pm. And on Saturdays, the clinic conducts appointments between 9am and 1pm.

FAQs about Treatment

Will my treatment hurt?

None of the treatments administered by our practitioners are intended to be painful. Though you may experience some mild discomfort during (or after) some therapies, you should always alert your practitioner if you’re experiencing pain.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your injury/condition. In some instances one session will be enough, whilst in other cases your practitioner will devise a treatment plan which includes several visits over a few weeks, or months. At Total Balance Healthcare our aim is to treat you as efficiently as possible so that you can get on with life.

How long do sessions last?

Typically your first osteopathy or physiotherapy session will run for up to 40 minutes, with sessions thereafter lasting up to 30 minutes.
Remedial massage sessions can be booked for 30 or 60 minutes respectively.

What should I bring along to my first visit?

Bring along a letter or referral from your doctor/surgeon if you have one, along with any X-rays, CT-scans or MRI scans that are relevant to your injury. It’s recommended that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing; usually shorts and a t-shirt where possible.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Though you may be referred to us by your doctor, you do not need a referral to make an appointment with any of our professional practitioners. However, if you are seeing an osteopath or physiotherapist, you may be asked for your doctor’s details so that we can inform your doctor about your treatment plan.
